Emergency First Aid Fundamentals

Course Description

Would you know what to do if a companion sustained a penetrating chest wound? Could you prolong the life of a loved one if they sustained a lacerated artery from a violent attacker? While most people are comfortable dealing with everyday cuts and scrapes, and many have learned the Heimlich maneuver or CPR, most individuals are less prepared to handle severe, life-threatening injuries when seconds count, and EMS personnel or the emergency room is minutes (or longer) away.

In the Emergency First Aid Fundamentals training course, you’ll learn how to properly assess a patient and deal with critical issues such as:

  • Serious bleeding
  • Chest injuries
  • Compromised airways
  • Spinal injuries
  • Broken bones

Although it might seem challenging to compare what professional EMTs and paramedics do in emergencies versus what nonprofessionals are capable of, in life-threatening situations, the goal is the same: to sustain the patient’s life until they can reach the emergency room.

This training is designed to make you your family’s first responder in emergency situations. You won’t just sit in a classroom; your instructor will guide you through real-world scenarios using simulated patients and actual products to ensure you understand how to save a life.

In this course, we’ll not only cover the critical first hour of a medical or traumatic emergency but also what to do if the emergency extends into days. We’ll start with patient assessment and cover the following:

  • MARCH-E, AVPU, and ABCDE methods
  • Scene safety and size-up
  • Triage techniques to assess patients and use your time and supplies effectively
  • Application of tourniquets and other life-saving tools
  • Identifying essential items for your emergency kit

If you’re ready to take control in emergency situations, this training is essential.
