Florida Concealed Carry Course (CCW Course)

Course Description

Assault Counter Tactics offers Florida Concealed Carry classes at our training center in Merritt Island.

This class meets all the education requirements for the Florida CCW permit. Once you complete the class, you can apply for your permit at the Brevard County Tax Collectors Office or the Department of Agriculture Office, and your permit will arrive by mail in about 2 weeks.

Common Questions about the Florida CCW and Our Class:

What does your class include?
Our class covers basic handgun safety, practical considerations for concealed carry, and a brief overview of the lawful use of force and Florida concealed carry statutes. The class consists of in-classroom training and live fire at the gun range. This course meets all concealed carry ‘education’ requirements for Florida, and you will receive a certificate to use with your CCW application.

Students do not need to bring a firearm to class as all necessary equipment will be provided.

How does your class differ from others?
The ACT Concealed Carry class provides just what you need to get your CCW permit, keeping your cost low. This allows you to save money for more advanced instruction, your carry gun, practice ammo, or other necessities. We do not provide photos, background checks, or fingerprints.

What do I need to do to get my permit after the class?

There are two ways to apply for a Florida Concealed Carry Permit:

  1. Apply by mail: You must submit photos, fingerprints, and your class certificate. By mail, permits typically take 30-90 days to process.

  2. Apply in person: At participating Department of Agriculture Field Offices, you only need your certificate. The office will take your photo and fingerprints. Permits applied for in person are usually processed and delivered by mail within 14 days.

How much does the Concealed Carry Permit cost?
To calculate the total cost, include both the CCW class fee and the Florida permit application fees (which are not collected during the class). If you take our class, your cost is $65 to ACT, plus $97 at the Department of Agriculture, for a total of $162.00.

This total consists of three separate fees (subject to change without notice):

  • Course Fee: $65
  • License Fee: $55
  • Fingerprint Processing Fee: $42

Are there exceptions to the class requirement?
The most common exception applies to current and former members of the U.S. Armed Forces and law enforcement. Military personnel can use a current military ID, while separated and retired service members can use a DD214 form. Even if you’re exempt, we recommend seeking out some CCW training, as concealed carry involves more than what is taught in typical military gun qualifications.

Note: No ammunition is allowed in the classroom. Please lock it in your car, and we will retrieve it when necessary.
